Knowing where God wants you to be and what you ought to be doing is essential to serving with joy. Having spent a large portion of time in 2016 understanding the identity and structure of the church, we now in 2017 are seeking to learn more about what our roles, individually and corporately, look like in active service for God. Our theme verse was introduced by Pastor Daniel in this sermon – Psalm 100:2 “Serve the LORD with gladness!”. Beginning with a working definition of the word “service”, Daniel then moved into reasons for why we ought to serve, and also touched on several wrong motives for our service. The manner in which we serve will be one of gladness if we are truly working for the Lord, as He is our joy. Pastor Daniel then closed out by answering the crucial question of what we ought to do if our service for Christ feels merely a duty. May the Lord help us as we embark upon this journey of understanding what it is to truly serve our God with gladness!
